Pastor Mikes Daily Devotion Thursday July 10, 2014 Acts 27:21, But after long abstinence from food, then Paul stood in the midst of them and said, “Men, you should have listened to me, and not have sailed from Crete and incurred this disaster and loss. The midst is a place we so often find the Apostle Paul. The midst is that place where what we have to say is heard, and it is that place where what we have to say is considered, and is that place where what we have to say is challenged. It is that place where we can so shy away from, but it is that place where the words of warning from God through his spokesman are to be conveyed. Paul is on a ship that is headed for destruction. There are others on that same ship who Paul had previously warned of a coming peril. Instead of heading Pauls words, those on that ship drew their comfort and safety from the protection offered from the island of Crete. Now out on the open sea they are at the mercy of a brutal storm that even caused experienced sailors to fear. Paul has a message to those in the storm, and it is one that may not make sense in the midst of the storm, but it is the only way to salvation for those headed for destruction. God has given us words of warning to those who are headed for destruction. Just as it makes perfect sense for Paul to stand in the midst and speak the message that God has shown him. We also are to stand in the midst and speak what He has given us. As we do so our message will be heard, and considered, and challenged, but it must be spoken.
