Pastor Miles mentioned home ownership and mortgage payments today, saying that isnt all that you pay...theres also property tax, utility bills...he didnt mention HOA and PMI. All those things add up. It got me thinking that despite being a homeowner for the 2nd time...I really dont own anything. What Ive currently paid amounts to about 1/5th of the current value of the homes. The bank owns most of it still, and if I sell either before the mortgages are paid off, then I wont have ever fully owned them, never having the title without a lien holder listed on it. Even if I do, however, there is still the reality that everything Ive earned isnt really mine because those skill sets that I used to obtain the real estate is actually given by God. As C.S. Lewis writes, Every faculty you have, your power of thinking or of moving your limbs from moment to moment, is given you by God. If you devoted every moment of your whole life exclusively to His service you could not give Him anything that was not in a sense His own already. Hold on to things loosely. Hes just letting you use it for a little while.
