Patience is still a virtue! Dear Friends, Why is it, though - TopicsExpress

Patience is still a virtue! Dear Friends, Why is it, though Christ Himself told us it was impossible, that people still try to set dates for His return? They only succeed in making themselves look foolish and bringing dishonor on Christ by leading the ignorant to think Gods Word is not to be trusted (when it is those who violate it who are unworthy of trust). Todays devotional alerts us to the fact that this is nothing new and not to fall into that trap now., God bless you. Because of Calvary, John Janney Mark 13:32-33; II Peter 3:8-13 “It is true the interpreters of the Book of Revelation told us that he was to come three hundred years ago, and there are thousands upon thousands of books in the British Museum which were very dogmatic upon this point, and yet they have all been disproved by the lapse of time. Men were as sure as sure could be that Christ would come just then; and he did not, for he was bound by his Word, but not by their interpretation of it. He will come at the appointed hour. To the jots and tittles God’s word will stand. He will come to the tick of the clock. We know not when; we need not ask; but let us wait.” [Charles Haddon Spurgeon, The Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit XXXIV, (London: Passmore and Alabaster, 1888), p. 336] March 7, 2014
