**Patient Update** Nice visit. First time Id met Mikes doctor. He went over everything and answered all questions. Mikes sodium level is slowly coming up to a low normal level. He told Mike they want to keep tracking him very closely because he could flip and go a bad direction again. I asked what kind of doctor Mike has the appt with on the 14th in St Joseph, MO. It is a female doctor who specializes in the kind of condition Mike found himself in. Doctor wants her to make double sure he hasnt overlooked anything in his treatment. A voluntary second opinion. Thorough. A diuretic pill is supposed to flush water out of the body (to help lower blood pressure). Mikes blood pressure kept reading higher on my home blood pressure machine. For some reason the pill flushed salt out of Mike, causing his kidneys not to output water....thus the water in his blood raised. The low normal salt level in the body is 135. A level of 110 sends a person into a coma and death. Mikes was at 117 when he entered the hospital. He was one sick puppy. They can not raise the salt level (with salt pills) too quickly, so its a long process. Yesterday he was at 132. Moving in the right direction and watching him closely.
