Patients and physicians were able to get a glimpse of a breakthrough in breast cancer detection, coming to the Breast Center at Lafayette General in March. A mobile unit displaying a sample of the most accurate mammogram technology ever was parked today on LGMC’s campus, as part of a nationwide tour. The 3D technology provides sharper images than 2D mammograms and examines breast tissue layer by layer. For patients, it also means fewer unnecessary biopsies. Diagnostic Radiologist, Alecia Rideau, M.D., will provide skilled and timely readings of the mammograms.
