Patsy wrote..Im 62 yr old female and will have a LBK in one month today.Looking forward to it after a lifetime of trying to accommodate congenital foot deformity, many surgeries, hand made shoes, many varieties of insoles and finally several years of rebuilding shoes to try and stop the increasing pain and deformity due to those first 2 surgeries done in the sixties. Thanks to all the people who who started this site and those who continue to carry on the excellent information and support. I live in northern British Columbia (up near Hyder, Alaska) and resources are pretty skint up here. My surgeon-to-be in Prince Rupert just came back from a course on amputations in the field where he was teased about being there when he has a standard orthopedic surgery practice. He said to me last week: and then you walk in! Hes up on the latest stump creation techniques which he happily described to my husband and me.Gotta love a surgeon who loves to learn anything and everything! I had a total right knee replacement done at the beginning of Feb in preparation for this. I have my list of goals set and the biggest problem I have is having patience and taking things slowly. Already Im trying to figure out how to go and sing at a music festival 10 days after surgery (Kispiox Music Festival if anybody is up this way). Im pretty sure my children, husband and friends wont drive me! So again, thanks for being here and Im sure Ill be reading and re-reading much of the site in the coming months and years ahead.
