Patwon Ki Haveli - Jaisalmer The pics are from the first haveli of a series of 5 havelis. The Patwas were extremely successful traders but over a period of time the fortunes started dwindling. One of the most elaborate and ornate of all havelis in Jaisalmer facing the Jaisalmer fort. The carving on the yellow sandstone outside is amazing and the colours within aptly reflect the opulence of the times. Have seen a few havelis in the Shekhawati region too, but these are way better. The first one has been re-named as Kotharis Patwa Haveli after Mr. Jeevanlalji Kothari purchased it and restored it.
