Paul Bettencourt To Run For Texas Senate Thursday, June 27, 2013 Contact: Allen Blakemore 713-526-3399 Paul Bettencourt to Run for Texas Senate HOUSTON – Paul Bettencourt announced today that he would be a candidate to fill the State Senate, District 7, seat being vacated by Dan Patrick, who has announced his intention to run for Lt. Governor. “Dan Patrick has done an amazing job for the people of Texas and SD7. I am grateful for his years of service, and the conservative legislation that he has championed. He has been a leader in Austin for our values. Now that he has announced his intention to run for Lt. Governor, it is important that SD7 continues to have a strong conservative voice in Austin,” Bettencourt said. “I have worked in various capacities with both the state and local Republican Party, serving as Vice-Chairman and Treasurer of the Harris County Republican Party, and Treasurer of the Republican Party of Texas. Further, I served for 10 years as the Tax Assessor Collector in Harris County, and continue to address tax issues in the private sector through my business, Bettencourt Tax Advisors. “Despite our legislators’ hard work in Austin, there are many issues that still need work. While education, transportation, and water continue to be major issues, we must also address other topics that impact all of us daily, such as property tax relief, appraisal district relief, and work to enact a taxpayer bill of rights. My experience with these issues will enable me immediately make a difference and be a forceful advocate for these changes. “President Obama and his Democrat allies continue their policies of expanding government and limiting personal freedoms. From Obamacare to the so-called Immigration Reform, they seek to expand government’s role in our lives at every turn. We must fight for smarter and smaller government that can do more with less. While Tax Assessor, I was able to increase the number of jurisdictions we served by almost 50%, while keeping our operating budget flat. I look forward to putting my experience and proven track record in this area to work for the people of SD7 and Texas,” Bettencourt concluded. Bettencourt is currently the CEO of Bettencourt Tax Advisors and resides in Houston Texas. He and his wife have two children, and attend St. John Vianney Church. See article at : quorumreport/
