Paul Gallen and Fuifui Moimoi could fight in professional boxing match | By Nick Walshaw NSW Origin captain Paul Gallen has been offered a surprise contender for his second professional heavyweight fight - league cult favourite Fuifui Moimoi. The Daily Telegraph can reveal Moimoi, who is expected to continue his career in the English Super League next season, has been sounded out for a fight with Gallen - most likely on the undercard of a Daniel Geale bout in December. Members of Geale’s management team, Grange Old School Boxing, spoke with the Moimoi camp on Thursday about a potential clash between the two NRL stars. Former world champion Danny Green has also been sounded out about hosting the match-up through his company, Green Machine Promotions. While Moimoi has never fought professionally, his feared right hand is the stuff of legend at the Parramatta Eels, where he played all of his 11 first grade seasons. In fact, the 110kg enforcer was actually banned from throwing right hooks during sparring sessions between the players, so concerned were the coaching staff of what may result. While neither footballer has spoken to the other directly about the challenge, it’s known both are happy to take the bout if the financials can be split agreeably. Initially, Grange Old School was hoping to pit Gallen against fading American cult figure, Kimbo Slice. While likely to end in knockout, Slice has nowhere near the fear factor - or following - he did when first emerging as a Youtube streetfighting sensation in the early 2000s. As recently reported by The Daily Telegraph, Geale’s camp is hoping to stage the card outdoors at the Cronulla Sharks home ground, Remondis Stadium. A bout involving Moimoi would certainly generate huge interest among league fans. Only recently the 35-year-old Tongan opened up about his desire to have a fight before heading to the UK to continue his career. “The reason I want to box,” Moimoi said, “I want to have that fear, that feeling when you get into the ring. “Playing footy, there are 13 players out there on each side. I want to feel what it’s like to go one-on-one with someone in a boxing ring. “Whenever someone used to hit me hard, tackle me hard, I wanted to get them back ... it will be the same in the ring.” Gallen won his first professional bout in February against Herman Ene Percell, a Toowoomba teenager who currently boasts only two wins from five fights.
