Paul was a very learned man, and knew the philosophies of the day but he made it a point to come in the power of the Spirit instead. I used to be heavily into apologetics and have listened to just about everything that guys like Ravi Zacharias have recorded, yet I believe that Ravi lacked spiritual wisdom nevertheless he was used in the capacity that he was ready for. The thing is, we are moving into a period where head knowledge and data is going to be of lesser importance because the powers of darkness do not bow to intellect or how savvy one is or how well one can debunk a counter argument -- all of that is useless when it comes to spiritual warfare. So an emphasis on data is vain when considering what we are up against. Demons are much much smarter than all of so we need to somehow get to a point of spiritual authority and those who are caught up in reformed circles that tend to emphasize academia and philosophy and those who have allowed themselves to be indoctrinated into a denominational pattern of thinking are going to be unprepared to stand.
