Paulette shares: Hi, my son is 3 yrs old and is severely autistic and also non verbal. He has a lot of sensory issues. He currently attends public school and is in a pk special needs class. The teachers are having a really hard time with him, because he needs for care and services than what they provide. I called a meeting before last October with the child study team and requested that he is transferred to an autistic school but I was not granted. Almost 5 months now from when he started school in September there is no improvement. I found out today from his teacher that he has not received speech therapy since early December. He is supposed to receive speech therapy twice a week. I called for a meeting with the CST for Thursday and I wanted to know if you guys can help give me some tips to bring up at the meeting. Also if anyone knows of any advocates based in New Jersey (Jersey city area) that could attend the meeting with me, I would be grateful. Thank you.
