Peace be upon you all, MSA members/ future-members/ anyone & everyone reading this, Im Radiyah, Im running to be your next Director of Publications & Media, inshaAllah. Ill be going into my third year of journalism and I truly believe I have the experience in media to ensure MSA is known and our events and services are broadcasted to as many people as possible. Experience: I served as promotions officer for Journalism Society for the 2013/14 year. I also worked as student volunteer coordinator for CKCU 93.1 FM, Carletons own campus-community radio station, and I currently host my own show every other Monday from 7-8 a.m. Im a contributing reporter for the Charlatan and Ill be serving as Editor-in-Chief of Carletons Journalists for Human Rights 2014/15. Publication and media is seriously what I do all day every day for most of the year and Id love to utilize the skills Ive picked up from the opportunities Ive been blessed with to help propel MSA forward and get more of the community involved. Goals: I was working with Miriam (our past Director of Publications & Media) during the year to start an MSA program on CKCU and Id really like to follow through if elected, inshaAllah. Id also like to use our social media to be more engaged with students, particularly first years who come to CU and want to be a part of this community but dont know where to go or how to get involved. Keeping our members updated with what MSA hopes to do throughout the year is also integral to ensuring success, because a lot of the time people have great ideas but dont realize they can come to the meetings or contribute to the wider discussion. These are a few key points but feel free to hit me up if you have any Qs or want to know more about what Id like to do in the upcoming year! Recap real quick: I know how to reach out to various groups and people through social media, I know and already have connections within our major media outlets on campus, and I have the resources available to ensure MSA is out and open in the year to come.
