Peace in the abscence of justifce is nothing more than a prelude to total war for the longer peace is arbitrarily imposed at the expense of addressing the issues that created a climate ripe for conflict, the more destructive that war will be. This nation is on the brink of imploding but it will not be the African American community that presses the button which finally blows it up; it will be the racist elements of the white community in cahoots with that portion of the white population which though well meaning, is tone deaf to the needs of the African American community as a whole. It is the latter group which in fact poses the greatest threat to peace for they arrogantly assume that they can fully relate to us; that because they are generally favorably disposed towards African American that that gives them the right to tell we African Americans how we should handle our business; be it telling us which black people are good or bad, which African American leaders of the past whose life example we should revere or follow, and to lecture us on the need for us to remain nonviolent in the face of violent attacks, when they themselves have never done likewise. What we the African American community needs, what we demands, and what we has a right to, is to be able to feel the same sense of security that every white person feels by dint of having been born white and such a state of affairs will never come to pass so long as the well meaning white people of America continues to talk not to the African American community but past it; assuming the tone of a teacher lecturing an errant child rather than one equal speaking on equal terms as an equal to another. Stop lecturing us. Stop telling us how we should react to the hell that is uniquelly ours and shut up and listen; really listen to us for a change. Forget trying to relate to us by bringing up your own personal struggles to achieve whatever because when all else is said and done your white skin still gives you a huge advantage; it doesnt matter how many blacks, Native Americans, etc are in your family; or how many you know and consider to be your friend because you still cant fully grasp where were coming from because youve never had to live a moment in our skin in this particular country. Yet more to the point we dont need your friendship, your empathy, or whatever. We need to get your collective act together; to give those of your own ethnicity the lectures you deem to give us in the need to be nonviolent and to disavow violence. We African Americans are not Americas problem and we never have been Americas problem for all we have ever demanded are those rights you have taken for your birthright; rights that you can take for granted not because of anything you have done to earn those rights but because ot the color of your skin. In other words, if you want to really save America, dont turn to we African Americans and urge us to be nonviolent in the face of violent attacks. Stop being violent towards us and we wont feel the need to be nonviolent. To save America you must save your souls and you will do that by cleansing your souls all bigotry & intoterance; both blatant & subtle; both hateful and paternalistic. If you collectively do that or at least finally make a sincere effort to start, then race relations will improve, the tensions will lessen, and America will begin. Yet this will not happen through your words; it will be proven by your deeds alone; by you collectively showing through your deeds that you have no black friends; that you you have friends, period, some of whoms skin pigmentation is just a little darker than your own.
