Peace would be A Good Thing. But what would you expect your government to do were a neighbouring country to attack yours at random with suicide bombers, rockets, and the like for over 30 years? Why are Palestinians/Gazans digging tunnels into Israel? To go the Israeli cinemas at the weekend? To shop at the supermarkets? Where are the Palestinian rockets built? They certainly used to be built in the schools and community centres built by UNRWA with international funds--facilities intended to help the people of Palestine, but used as part of the Palestinian terrorism war machine. Would you want your government to open the borders to a self-declared enemy that was currently bombarding your country? Demand of Hamas that they stop using those UNRWA-built and funded facilities as bomb factories. Those buildings will then no longer be targets for the Israeli military. People who take refuge in them would be safer.
