Peaceful Posse enters its 18th year! Entering our 18th year of programming Peaceful Posse is still going strong. A peer mentoring program for middle schoolers who live in communities often characterized by high levels of violence, this program gives kids the opportunity to express themselves in a positive way with supportive, trained Group Leaders. The outcomes-based curriculum places an emphasis on: the power in making choices, and how to effectively listen and create connections with others, how to manage strong emotions and resolve conflict. Peaceful Posse believes that people who have the context, opportunity and skills to talk about their emotions and feelings are less likely to “express” those emotions in physically aggressive ways. This fall Peaceful Posse returned to Cassidy and Shawmont Elementary Schools and continues to serve young men in the Abbottsford Community. Peaceful Posse was first developed and piloted in Abbottsford in 1995 and has continuously operated in Abbottsford since its inception. Click to hear from one of our Peaceful Posse Participants!
