Pedestrian Hurt after being Struck by MV on Cambridge Street Worcester, MA (November 10, 2014) - On Saturday November 8, 2014, at approximately 5 PM, Worcester police responded to the area of 364 Cambridge Street for a report of a MV and pedestrian accident. Upon the officer’s arrival he observed a 33-year-old female sitting in the west bound lane of Cambridge Street. The pedestrian was conscious and alert but appeared to have a head injury as a result of being struck by a 2007 Hyundai Elantra sedan. The pedestrian was treated at the scene by emergency personnel and then transported to U-Mass Medical Center (university campus). Due to the nature of the accident the WPD Crash Reconstruction Unit was called to the scene to investigate. According to the preliminary report, the pedestrian was crossing Cambridge Street (not in crosswalk) when she was struck by the Hyundai which was traveling in the eastbound lane. The force of the impact propelled the pedestrian approximately 10 feet upward before landing onto the vehicle. The pedestrian was struck with the left front corner of the vehicle. The vehicle received damage to the fender, hood and the driver’s side view mirror. The pedestrian received a head injury along with complaints of pain to her shoulder and back. The pedestrian is in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries. To date there have been no citations issued as this investigation is ongoing.
