Peerzada at I-Day parade at Ang: ‘Maintain brotherhood’ ANANTNAG, AUGUST 15: 67th Independence Day was Thursday celebrated with full fervor at Govt. Degree College for Boys Anantnag. Minister for Haj and Auqaf and Public Enterprises, Peerzada Mohammad Syed hoisted the National Flag and took salute of the march past. Chief guest Peerzada Mohammad Syed while addressing the public on this occasion highlighted achievements of the present coalition government. He congratulated the people and commemorated the martyrdom of the freedom fighters with whose blessing is Thursday being celebrating as 67th freedom day. Speaking on the occasion, . Syed told that the present coalition govt. under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister . Omar Abdullah is working hard towards making the state self-reliant in every sphere of life, whether it is Economy, Development, Better Facilities for the weaker sections of society, Education, Rural Development or Health. He appealed people to maintain brotherhood in the state which is the backbone for overall prosperity and development of the state. He also reiterated that the disturbance in state not only affects the economy but also becomes havoc for peaceful life in this heavenly part of earth and thanked the Central Govt for extending their timely support to the state whenever it needed. The address of the chief guest was followed by colorful march past by J&K Police, CRPF, JKAP, Fire Sevices, NCC Cadets and students of various Schools. A number of cultural programs by School Children and Department of Information added to the beauty of this memorable event. More than a dozen of schools participated in these cultural programs. Later, prize distribution ceremony was organized in which the chief guest along with DDC Anantnag presented prizes for meritorious services, performances of different departments in making the event a success and best performances in the march past and cultural programs presented on the occasion. Functions of similar kind were also held at all Tehsil HQs of the district where respective Tehsildars unfurled the national flag and took salute on the march past.
