People HATE UBER?! Heres Why! Urgent PBC Commission Meeting Tomorrow Bring your Drivers, your customers and your friends! Illegal Ride sharing companies (UBER & LYFTE) have been operating in Palm Beach County since August. The Department of Consumer Affairs has conducted over 25 sting operations and has issued thousands of dollars in fines to both the drivers and the companies. The County has told them to come into compliance but they have refused. Their prices are less than half of what legal companies charge because they do not have the same overhead. They do not have primary commercial automobile insurance on their vehicles. They use their own personal cars and personal car insurance. Only when the app is on does UBERs insurance come into play. Their drivers do not get licensed by the County and do not get fingerprinted and undergo a Level II Federal Background check. Nor are they drug tested. The problem is the public loves their cheap prices and does not think about the insurance until there is a problem, and there are problems. They have been shut down in Nevada, South Carolina, China, Thailand, and Spain with more problems coming every day. The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners has scheduled a Workshop for Tomorrow Tuesday January 27th at 10 am to look into the matter. YOUR ATTENDANCE AT THIS WORK SHOP IS VITAL. The workshop will be in the Commission Chambers at 301 North Olive Street in West Palm Beach. Last month Broward County held a similar workshop and there were over 100 UBER drivers, customers and supporters.
