People Whom I Hate (III) The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu - TopicsExpress

People Whom I Hate (III) The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “The people whom I hate the most and who are the farthest from me on the Day of Judgment are … those who show off when they talk.” [Tirmidhi] Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) says, “Do not compliment yourself, He (Allah) knows best those who are pious.” [Quran: Surah An-Najm, Ayat 32] Praising yourself is a sign of arrogance and proof of disregard for how Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) is viewing you. So the three kinds of people whom the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) will disassociate from on the Day of Judgement are “those who talk uselessly, those who put down others, and those who show off when they talk.” Points of Action: 1. Don’t talk about others. Most of useless speech consists of talking about other people, whether fact or fiction! The exception to this rule is to talk about that generation of people whom Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) praised and was pleased with – the male and female Companions of the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam). Talking about them allows us to set the right standard for ourselves. 2. Don’t try to establish your superiority over others. Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) says: “As for that Ultimate Abode (Paradise), We assign it to those who do not intend haughtiness on earth nor mischief.” [Quran: Surah al-Qasas, Ayat 83] 3. See if you can talk without using the words “I,” “me,” “my” and “our.”
