People applauding the new Voter ID law that Governor Pat McCory passed don’t realize how hard it’s going to be for people who don’t have an ID. You just can’t walk into a DMV office; get your picture taken and pick-up one for free. When I went to renew my license about two years ago, I couldn’t get them renewed because I couldn’t prove I was a citizen of the United States. So, I wasn’t a legal citizen for four months. I was going to get a one way ticket to South America, I was so mad, but couldn’t get a passport…No ID! Nothing I took them, legal papers, legal copy of birth certificate, nothing proved I was a citizen. Had to get notarized signatures from other people and pay to post my name at the courthouse for 30 days! This is all due to the “The USA PATRIOT Act of 2001 is an Act of Congress that was signed into law by President George W. Bush on October 26, 2001. Still thinking about getting that ticket!!
