People are receiving the same form letter from the BCUC in response to copying them on the letter to BC Hydro. It is so very important that we keep copying them so they cannot be told there was no problem with the fees. Dear Sir or Madam, We are in receipt of your recent comments regarding BC Hydro’s Smart Meter Program. At this time, the BC Utilities Commission has not received direction from the BC Government or BC Hydro for any matters related to BC Hydro’s options for customers to opt out of the Smart Meter Program. Standard practice for the BC Utilities Commission to review matters of regulated utilities requires either a direction from the provincial government or an application by the utility. Once either of these are received by the BC Utilities Commission, a review process will be initiated; however, at this time, we have no further information on this matter. If you have any questions about BC Hydro’s Smart Meter Program or its opt out options, please contact BC Hydro at 1-800-409-8199 or by email at smartmeters@bchydro .
