People ask me why I dont consider myself religious, or why I refuse to even explore it, and for a long time I didnt really have an answer people wanted. My answer was always, It doesnt matter to me: Im here now, and I want to live my life by my own rules, but Ive come to realize that thats not entirely true. I dont want to explore religion because Im entirely disgusted by the way most religious people act around their peers. Its sad that the people who claim to follow a loving and accepting god are most often the ones telling people that their lifestyle choices are wrong. And of course not every religious person is like this; I know very many people who are absolutely fantastic and are the epitome of what every religious person should aspire to be, but when something as unimportant as religion turns someone into a judgmental bigot, it becomes a negative connotation that I dont want to associate myself with. I want to be a good person because its how I am, not because I was told to be.
