People dont realise that Life of Brian is not actually about religion- it is actually about the Trade Union movement in 1970s Britain and the stranglehold which it had over the BBC at that time. Monty Phython actually fought very hard with the unions whose rules at the time were very arcane and disruptive to filming of the Flying Circus. They hated them. Life of Brian is about that time and all the splittering that went on. The film reminds me a lot of events in Kilkenny protestors at the moment. People immediately presume it is a left wing cause because it is a protest. Most people I have met on picket line are right wing and proud of that tag. They are true blue conservatives in the real sense of it - they wish to conserve Kilkenny and want businesses to grow in the city. They are driven by profit completely and utterly. But sustainable profit like their grandparents used to have in boot factories, well to do farmers and wealthy merchants. True Conservative like Monty Phython.
