People from Amarillo may not recognized this neat-looking building, unless they are originally from Dumas, since it is currently the Dumas Junior HIgh School. The reason I am posting it is not only because it is a neat-looking building, but also because it was designed by Amarillo architect Guy Carlander. The black & white photo shows the building just after it was completed in 1932. The school was built to act as the school for the entire town, housing all grades, until the Dumas High School was finally built in 1949. It looks like Dumas has taken great care of the building, as if it were just built yesterday. I hope the City of Dumas appreciates the historic value of the building and will continue to maintain and use it for many more decades.
