People hate me fer this. But yall don unnerstan. The War of Northern Aggression was NOT about slavery. It was about the rights of States to determine their own destiny. It was about States who, having lost respect and trust in the Federal Government, wanted to go their own way. A Government that continually stomped on their rights, continually tried to inflict the Governments view on everybody. My forbears fought that. To the last man. Until the one man who could have won that war, said enough. Bobby Lee decided the loss of life was not worth it. So he surrendered. btw, Gen. Robt. E. Lee was asked by Mr. Abraham Lincoln to lead the Union troops at the beginning of the war. Not well known. He was the Commandant of West Point. He was, bar none, the greatest military tactician the world has ever known. Had he not surrendered on April 9 (Appomattox Day), we may well be still fighting this war.
