People have really changed in all the years that I have tried to - TopicsExpress

People have really changed in all the years that I have tried to serve them with happiness . I watched a wonderful travel programme tonight : Sue Jenkins making her way up the Mekong River . She went to many places that I have visited, She observed that although the people had very little they lived in happy, cohesive societies . Low standard of living and a high standard of life . This encapsulated my reason for loving the people of South East Asia. As time has gone on our people have become more like spoiled children . I started with a generation who had gone though the 1930s depression . They remembered being sick and unable to afford a doctor . The march from Jarrow - the desperate protest against poverty. Then the horrors of war-time and rationing . However they were wonderful people to entertain . They had learned to help each-other and empathize. They loved music that they could sing to and dances that they all knew. After the war they build a new society and with the discipline of the services and drive of a single purpose they made great progress. When I joined the human race their suffering was BC ( before Chris ) and to me - ancient history. Each generation takes the world that they enter for granted , gradually needing each other less and becoming more selfish . Despite all of out comforts and toys we become more disillusioned, less happy and turn on each other to blame . We become more childish and the government takes the parents roll because a lot of parents never mature . We are protected from risk to the extent that nothing is ever seen as our own fault . This governing monster requires so much money to maintain itself that we become enslaved to it . We have to have the mentality of a machine to avoid punitive fines and penalties. A lot of the human spirit in crushed in our society . Im a child of the 60s - Our teachers had won a hard - fought freedom as always emphasized that we had to maintain it through vigilance, thinking for ourselves and question everything . We always assumed that the scientific advances that came so fast would continue to breed optimism and joy. The advances have continued but bought us products that enable us to live in a virtual space . We choose our friends from a list on face-book and only tolerate those around us . Music is an individual rather than a communal pleasure . So this all leads to a survey in the Winter garden of some dancers who only want their own dances and who take no pleasure from seeing others happy . Who would make me an excuse for all that is wrong in their lives . Are they worth it ?. Hours of my childhood learning the piano . Hours of my adolescence studying the church organ . Years learning tunes and dances Years of experience for effective communication with which to amuse . Are they worth it ? ... I hope so . Because - If not .. I have wasted all my time .
