People hear, people say. The vast majority of what you read on the internet - social media in particular (from all types of people) - is simply regurgitated from the last person who said it, with little to no fact-checking or understanding of the issue. Because taking the time and effort to know what in the Hell youre talking about takes, well, time and effort. And people are lazy and opinionated. People think that because they have a forum and an audience, that qualifies them to speak on subjects they really dont know anything about. And they will continue in their assumption that they do, even after being definitively rebutted. And if you offer a logically constructed critique of their reasoning, they believe that reiterating it with more emphasis solves that problem. Im sad to report that a fair plurality of those who will read this post will think they know what Im saying, when they really dont. Those who do know will, of course, realize that Im simply stating the obvious and needed to vent.
