People in HK are dying for a real election to select the govt that they want, not hand-picked by Beijing. But they are given freedom of speech. People in Singapore are given the choice to elect the govt they want but dying for freedom of speech. As people of Singapore, we should count ourselves lucky that we can elect the govt we want but sadly, 60% have a different choice. Only 40% or less want freedom of speech. Should Hongkongers be more envious of us? So ask yrself, do u want freedom to fair election or freedom of speech if you are asked to pick only one? I will opt for freedom to fair election to vote for the right govt that works for the pp. But my point is not to praise the pap govt for being fair. Many things are run on a one country two systems standards. Singapore is One Entity made up of different races and religions. But under this govt, Singapore is made into different Entities of locals and foreigners forced into integration without anything in common. To locals, Singapore is a Home. To foreigners, Singapore is a place to work and earn for short term. How will integration work? The pap will quote you your forefathers come from China, India, Msia. But your forefathers come to Singapore and work for long term and convert to citizens as well as speak the same languages thereafter. Your forefathers dun poo outside Holland mrt station or scold Singaporeans as dogs or tell pp that your govt invite them here. Are these foreigners your forefathers? Hah.
