People often dont believe us when we tell them that Brumbies are smart, kindhearted and easily trainable horses that need to be shown patience and kindness NOT who is boss. This video from yesterday is Titans second training session ever. His first training session was an exact replica of this one. He has NOT been roped. He has NOT been round penned. Titan is learning to walk into the crush so we can safely anesthetize him for gelding next week. Once he can confidently walk through the crush, we will teach him to stand in there with the doors closed, and so on from there. This is the kindest, safest, most successful way we have found to work with Brumbies. Titan was roaming free in the park only one week ago. He is a 4.5yr old Stallion. He is calm and gentle. He listens to what we ask and does it willingly. He makes no fuss about us taking his mare into a different yard, and has never shown any aggression towards us or the other horses. This is what Brumbies are like to work with when you do it right. NB: The HVBA has specifically constructed handling facilities and very experienced handlers. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME.
