People talk about how DC and the new 52 is all grim and gritty, but hasnt Marvel gone the same way? I mean.. The Avengers and the X-Men have had hit squads (or at least squads that do dirty work behind the scenes.. but mostly hit squads). Wolverine has been a member of both and hes gleefully murdered a man who did nothing wrong yet creating a major xover event and in two other events, gleefully offered to murder a teenage girl who did nothing wrong and a woman possessed by a powerful force that drove her mad and made her do bad things (similar to the woman he supposedly loves so much). The X-Men also have known murderers in their ranks like Cyclops, Emma Frost, and Magneto (Emma Frost even lead the Dark X-Men during Osbournes reign of evil incarnations). Heck, the Jean Grey school has its own fixer, who does whatever is necessary to keep the school running and hassle free. Even the Fantastic Four have recently been tainted by a major xover event where a member stood in silent agreement of murder. Not to mention just about every xover in the last few years has lead to the deaths of heroes.. sometimes by other heroes. Not to mention of course Superior Spider-Man, a year long story where Spider-Man is an insufferable prick who murders with ease.. and Dark Reign of course where all the baddies take over and become the heroes. just thoughts running through my head.. I know Marvel has some titles that are lighter.. like Hawkeye and DareDevil, but even DareDevil is a response to a decades long run of murder and death.
