In this capacity, the position performs the following: · Draft communication plans, press materials, and executive remarks for assigned arts and events programming activities · Disseminate information via the press through well-written press releases, advisories, phone calls, and promotional materials related to events, exhibits, and performances · Respond to media inquiries by phone or email, and coordinate interviews to inform the public, respond to inaccuracies, and verify stories and facts · Assist media in their coverage at events by providing relevant information and access to talent, coordinators, and performers · Disseminate information via social media through well-written and strategic Facebook and Twitter posts and social media campaigns to inform the public and encourage them to attend events · Assist with copywriting and copyediting for promotional materials and special events through print collateral and e-communications by collecting pertinent information from programming and marketing staff, and writing content as needed · Arrange media interviews · Manage freedom of information requests · May oversee and/or supervise temporary staff, including student interns · Assist with other DCASE events, programs, and activities · Perform other related duties as required NOTE: Must be able to work some early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays THIS POSITION IS EXEMPT FROM THE CAREER SERVICE. Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or a related field, supplemented by five years of progressively responsible experience in the development and implementation of public information programs, including two years of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
