Peoples response to anxiety varies, but in general the stress responses kick in, shoulders tighten, the heart rate increase. For some people supported forward bends can be helpful to calm the body. For others, these forward bends are too introverted and actually increase restlessness in the mind and instead they need an active pose. Over this week Ill post a few different links and videos. Im going to start with a supported backbend - these are one way to open the heart and chest and release the shoulders without overstimulating the nervous system.
