Peoples’ mandate must be respected during govt formation: MehboobaSrinagar, Dec 31 (KNS): After meeting Governor NN Vohra on Wednesday, Peoples DemocraticParty president Mehbooba Mufti claimed to have the support of 55 MLAs but was quick to add that her party was not in a hurry to form the government.According to the KNS correspondent, Mehbooba told reporters that the people of the state have given a decisive but a divided mandate during 2014 elections. “The issue that has emerged after the results is not the formation of the next government but to respect the mandate that has been accorded by the people of the state during the polls,” Mehbooba said.Pertinently, PDP was offered unconditional support by Congress and National Conference along with some independents tokeep the BJP at bay.Asserting that the ‘mission Kashmir’ of the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has to be restarted again for peace and stability in the state, Mehooba said that suchpriorities were abandoned by the UPA-II.“We have to ensure restart of the peace process as also the fulfillment of promises made by us to the people,” she said.PDP has already pitched for AFSPA revocation and talks with the Pakistan for theresolution of Kashmir issue. Another bone of contention between the two major political players was the term of the chief minister with the PDP demanding 6 year term for CM after the formation of the new government. The road towards the formation of the new dispensation in the politically vexed state is getting smoother with the claim of the BJP tosubmit the formal proposal to the governor on January 1.Earlier, the speculations that used to galore within the state was the imposition of governor’s rule or re-elections as the mandate received by PDP and BJP led to hung assembly.
