At the end of last season, the centre-back presented Florentino Pérez with an offer from Manchester City for €25 million. The English club also substantially improved the conditions of his contract, but Real convinced him to stay. Real assured him that he would be a very important part of Carlo Ancelottis plans and promised him a wage increase which materialised in September: an extra €1 million. During the preseason in the US, Pepes comments in the press area were significant in that he was always cryptic on the subject of his future I want to stay at Real, but its down to the president, the player stressed. And Florentino has responded. Pepe has become a favourite of the Real president. Florentino Pérez is delighted with the attitude of the Portuguese player on the field, in addition to his unwavering defence of Real Madrids values. Following this pay rise, Pepe is now earning around €4 million per season. A portion of his salary is fixed and the rest equates to 25% of the players image rights. Pepe has become a regular in Ancelottis line-ups. In La Liga he has started in 11 of the 13 games, playing a total of 950 minutes. He has also been a key feature in the Champions League, where he has been in the starting eleven on all four occasions. #MM4
