Perception is Reality - MORE about the good things that we find our fellow Avalon citizens doing. My idea of hell - standing in the long line at Vons on a Friday evening, during high season. Frequently, I will get stuck behind some tourist wearing a Luau Larrys hat who is loudly professing his love or ire for one thing or another to everyone within earshot and who, once he has arrived at the register, is too drunk to count his coins. Standing there, fighting the urge to dump my quickly souring 2% milk on the drunken guys head, I withdraw to my inner Zen place (serenity now) and try to ignore the inner voice that keeps reminding me that these long minutes I spend in the line at Vons are ones that I will never get back. But then I turn away from my own suffering and self-concern and consider the Vons employees who dont just suffer a few minutes of this madness but instead, hours and days and weeks and months of it. Somehow that makes me feel so much better. LOL. So, heres a big thank you to the great staff at Vons! Especially the cashiers who work their fingers to the bone to get us rung-up and sacked out, as quickly and as courteously as possible, throughout the year and especially during high tourist season. Alma, Fina, Margarita....and all the rest....YOU are what Avalon is all about. Good service and always with a smile.
