Perhaps this will be the best Chinese film of 2014. I didnt know how it got through the censorship. There are many queries on the Chinese government projected in the film. Like the rampant child abduction case in China, weakness of the one child policy, law, etc. Maybe it is the once in a while film thats gotten lucky. This film, directed by Peter Chan, is based on a true event where a divorced parents found their abducted child 3 years later. What they found was truly eye-opening. It made the film a must tell story. It is not a normal child abduction case. It ended up changing everyones life. A part from the director, screenwriter Zhang Ji (张冀) made an enormous job writing the screenplay. Its a screenplay which is straight to the point with space for humour and deep thought. With the real victims supporting behind the screen, all the actors were able to do a detail research. This produced a solid acting with little flaw in the film. Especially Zhao Wei. She is the one most outstanding one. Although the others are great too. This is a must see film of the year. This abduction story will change the way you see such cases.
