Perhaps veering too far into the realm of bluegrass-y folk music, - TopicsExpress

Perhaps veering too far into the realm of bluegrass-y folk music, but this one recently came up on shuffle. I hadnt heard it in a while and had forgotten what a tremendous job Tony does with this tune. Originally written and recorded by Ralph McTell, Streets of London has been recorded over two hundred times, according to wikipedia, but of the 10-12 versions Ive heard, Tonys is the best. Theres just something about his version that is particularly soulful and affecting. That said, hes also one of my all-time favorite singers, and someone Ive been guilty of half-intentionally trying to imitate on a number of tunes I sing, but personal bias aside, I cant imagine anyone listening to this and not being captivated and moved.
