Perky – best of the A- Z songs – Round 1 – today’s letter Z. Who said this wasn’t going to get quirky and eclectic? Z is also nearing an end as a letter with not a lot of choice. I can take it to Round 2 or 3 before I retire the letter. I have a total guilty pleasure for this band . Today’s song “Zorba The Greek” by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass from 1965. An odd band that really tried to promote a Mexican style to their brass arrangements – yet most of The Tijuana Brass was Jewish – also a lot of Italian members over time. Hey music can be a very Artistic pretend game. Here they show off their deep Greek/ Mexican roots. Ha Ha Ha Ha!. Still, this is an awesome instrumental – very entertaining and full of really cool timing on the playing of the trumpet. Entertaining, creatively challenging, fun and GREEK! I love it! Although I’ve never liked ouzo – it tends to make me sick – but still for this song – bring out the ouzo and let’s dance. Love this track!
