Perry: Jihadists might be crossing from Mexico. Meade: That’s absurd Mexico News Daily | Saturday, August 23, 2014 The United States could be in danger because jihadists from the new Islamic State might have entered the country through Mexico, said Texas Gov. Rick Perry on Thursday. Yesterday, Mexico’s External Relations Secretary José Antonio Meade characterized the statement as “absurd.” Perry has said repeatedly in recent months that the Mexico-U.S. border could be the entry point for terrorists. Now he says there is “a very real possibility” that jihadists have already crossed due to the border being insecure and “porous.” He cited a high number of individuals from countries with terrorist ties crossing the border in recent months, including three Ukrainians apprehended in west Texas. But the Texas governor appears to be alone in claiming that Ukraine has terrorist ties.
