Persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh--Akbar Hussain (Mr Hussain is an Humanist activist. I have copied and pasted his post for people who feel respect for all should be basic principle of all religions. Save your own people before you speak for anyone else) During 1960’s one of my uncle was a passport officer in Dhaka. It was East Pakistan at that time. My history teacher who was a Hindu asked me to help his younger brother to obtain a passport through the good offices of my uncle. My uncle had to do it because I pressured him to help this man. I was a college student at that time and had some knowledge of right and wrong. I asked my uncle why this man could not get a passport normally. He told me there were strict government instructions not to issue a passport to a Hindu citizen unless it’s a very special case and he advised me not to bring any more requests which may hurt his reputation as an obedient servant of the government. That was Pakistan now this is Bangladesh but in which way Hindu citizens are better off there? What was that farce of secularism under which Bengali’s fought against Pakistani atrocities? Are the Hindus enjoys equal rights of a citizen? Why they are systematically persecuted and tortured in Bangladesh everyday? A few bitter truths must be said here. Islam as a faith does not believe in peaceful coexistence with other faiths. Muslim mullahs systematically spread hatred against other faiths. The crimes against Hindus are a shame for the Bengali Muslims. This is a silent and premeditated state sponsored scheme to torture the Hindus in Bangladesh for nasty political gains. The slogan of secularism is hypocrisy in a Muslim majority nation because Islam does not approve secularism. Bangladeshi politicians never had the intellectual capability to fathom the essence of secularism. If they had they would not have joined the association of the Islamic nations.
