Persian Gulf Story 1995 I am on watch after midnight and just came out of Radio heading down to Repair 8 when General Quarters sounds. I run back to radio and ask if anybody knows whats happening and nobody had a clue. We had been getting harassed some by the Iranians and I was worried that they were going jihad on us. After what seamed like forever, Captain Simmons comes on the 1MC and is screaming so loudly and with such uncharacteristic anger that it was hard to understand him. I remember something about nobody holds me hostage or ransom! What happened was that someone had stolen the Captains Plaque and left a ransom note that until the XO apologized for being whatever the term was that the plaque would remain ransom. We later learned that while the E3s were taking their E4s exam in the galley, that the XO had come through on one of his loud rants disturbing their exam. We stayed at General Quarters for hours until they found the plaque in some fan room. We never knew who took it.
