Perspective: Certifications and degrees are only our inadequeate way of ensuring competence and ability. Most people realize it is an imperfect way to discern success or helpfulness. Yet it is a way to beginning to filter out the noise. We always need to take it with a grain of salt and research for ourselves, question what is read or told and reconcile the incongruencies. Ultimately we need to participate in our own development by engaging. I think the reliance on a guru or "expert" is a lazy (and often dangerous) way of participating. Often the "expert" goes unchallenged and you are left in a bubble of general consensus with illogical analysis validated by like minds with little experience or knowledge to discern truth.
