Pet facts: Dogs don’t have “night vision.” Their eyes contain a membrane, called the tapetum lucidum, that enables them to see in the dark. Twitching and paw movements that occur during sleep are signs that your dog is dreaming. It’s important not to wake them from this deep sleep. Healthy pets should have normal, fresh breath. Bad breath can be a sign of dental disease or health problems. Only about two-thirds of cats inherit the gene that makes them react to catnip.
