Pet peeve: Why is it people complain about the Frankenstein Monster being called Frankenstein like its the end of the world? Think about it. He viewed Victor Frankenstein as his father. What child wouldnt want his fathers surname? And its not like anyone is really stupid enough to think if you call the creature Frankenstein that he was made by... Bob from Accounting. No one forgets Victor Frankenstein. Most inventors and fathers name their creations / children after themselves. I know The monster had no name in the book but if he had to choose a surname hed probably pick Frankenstein. I see people practically ripping their hair out over the title of the film I, Frankenstein because of this. Why is it they dont freak out that the creature, who was multi-lingual at eleven-months-old in the book (fluent and literate in French, German and English) is portrayed as an idiot in so much pop culture? That creature was a genius in the novel. A genius with the emotional maturity of a child. Why is it people dont complain over the weird steampunk metal parts, or flat head, or bald head, or slow, stroke victim style speech, or the tacked on moral that you shouldnt toy with nature or go too far with science (not the lesson of the book as creating The Monster was not the issue, it was rejecting / abandoning him that was the issue). Why focus on the name? He has a lot, lot more issues thanks to pop culture.
