Pete was an Honor Roll student in every class except math. He was straight A, but he was failing math. In fact, he rejected math. He refused to go to class. His guidance counselor knew he had no future if he failed his math class, so, every day she told him how important it was. Pete just ignored her, but, because she cared about Pete -- and because she knew her duty -- she kept telling him. One day Petes friend heard the guidance counselor preaching to Pete about math and said, “Can’t you just tell Pete about God’s love and grace and stop harping on the one thing he is failing at?” No, not if we love Pete.
