Peter Baker has written this media release to promote next weekends Australian Junior Dirt Track Championships at West Wyalong. KIDS FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY HEADING FOR THE AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS. More than 120 junior motorcycle riders from four states and the ACT will head to West Wyalong on the weekend of July 6 and 7 for a very important event The Wyalong Motor Sports Club will host the 2013 Australian Junior Dirt Track Championships at its Lone Pine Speedway track with riders seeking success in a total of 14 championship classes. The range of ages and machines starts with seven year olds on 65cc machines, through to riders who turn 16 in this calendar year and machines up to 250cc. There are two separate classes for the girls, while some of the girls will also take on the boys in the open events. There will also be two non-championship classes, basically for less experienced riders and some of them could be as young as four tears of age! Over 200 machines will be in the pit area with some riders contesting three classes of competition which will keep them busy over the two days of competition of heats and finals. Dirt track racing may not always attract much publicity, but it should. A highly acclaimed coaching scheme in place in the sport must be doing something right as junior dirt track racing over the past two decades has helped mould many highly successful careers – none more so than former Moto GP champion Casey Stoner and reigning world speedway champion Chris Holder. Many of the riders who will contest the championship meeting at West Wyalong will be dreaming of following in the tyre tracks of the likes of Stoner and Holder, and victory in a national title meeting will certainly bolster their CVs.
