Peter Beinart states that Israeli Control of the West Bank is a System of Violence. These Arabs he refers to now live under PA de facto Sovereignty (Area C) that amounts to 98% of the all Arabs that live in the “West Bank” Peter says they were not given citizenship the right to vote passports etc… These Arabs in Area C are not and were never entitled to Israeli citizenship the right to vote passports etc from Israel. They live under PA law and security. Why not ask Peter why when the Arabs controlled what is now area C from 1949-1967 they did not receive citizenship the right to vote or passports etc from their Arab brothers in (Trans) Jordan? You need to compare and contrast the following, you did somewhat (Hebron etc) but I know you can do better; 1. The reason for Arab migration to Israel in the mid to late 1800’s was to seek out and find good Jobs, for the Jews were returning home and the land had once again begun to flourish and the Jews were hiring. Recall Mark Twain’s observation when traveling through Israel in 1867 when he stated “….. A desolate country whose soil is rich enough, but is given over wholly to weeds… a silent mournful expanse…. a desolation…. we never saw a human being on the whole route…. hardly a tree or shrub anywhere. Even the olive tree and the cactus, those fast friends of a worthless soil, had almost deserted the country.” He was amazed by the smallness of the city of Jerusalem: “A fast walker could go outside the walls of Jerusalem and walk entirely around the city in an hour. I do not know how else to make one understand how small it is.” 2. The disposition of the Arabs of Palestine from 1949-1967. AWFUL! 3. The disposition of the Arabs of Palestine from 1967-1991. BEST EVER 4. The disposition of the Arabs of Palestine from 1991-2015 under PA control Area C. BACK TO MOSTLY AWFUL! Today 98% of the Arabs in Area C live under PA de facto sovereignty, their law their security in place. These Arabs today have negative GDP and 20% plus unemployment rate and depend on handouts to survive. In contrast to when Israel legally administered these territories from 1967 to 1991, the GDP average was 10 percent growth per year and an unemployment rate averaged less than 7 percent per year. FACTS: From 1949 to 1967 when (Trans) Jordan controlled Judea Samaria (“West Bank”) and Egypt controlled Gaza. More than 90% of the Arabs were not connected to a clean and reliable central water supply. More than half of these Arabs under (Trans) Jordan and Egyptian control had no consistent electricity. Not one Hospital built Not one University built The majority of roads where not paved The majority had no phone service. Infant mortality rate only peeked during Israel legal administration from 1967-1991. From 1967 to 1991 Israel connected the all Arabs to a clean central water supply, provided them all who wanted with electricity and telecom and cable services. Israel paved the roads built 7 hospitals and 8 universities and provided more than 100.000 good jobs, etc. Did the Arabs of Judea Samaria under (Trans) Jordan control get citizenship the right to vote passports etc, how many universities and hospitals where built, how many roads were paved, how many homes and businesses where connected to a clean water supply from 1949 to 1967. How many homes and businesses received consistent reliable electricity? How many homes and businesses got telecom and cable services? Questions to ask those that denigrate Israel and her treatment of the so called “Palestinians” FYI Israel has done more for the Arabs of the region recently knows as Palestine than any Arab nation ever did. Millions live in rotten poverty stricken UNWRA apartheid camps in Syria and Lebanon and Trans (Jordan). In contrast to the Jews that were expelled from Arab countries during and after the war of Independence of 1948 whom were all resettled, most in Israel. From 1949 to 1967 when the Arabs controlled all of the territory that the PLO claims is “Historic Palestine”… Why did they not create the brand new state of Palestine then? They had 19 years to do it. Article 24 of the original PLO Covenant of 1964 stated in its original text that the PLO recognized “Jordanian sovereignty in the west bank (Judea Samaria) and Egyptian sovereignty over Gaza and the Himah”. WHY? After the 1967 Arab initiated war against Israel’s existence they rewrote article 24 of the PLO Covenant 1964 and excluded the above reference. You have to make peace with the Arabs is what I hear all the time from well meaning folk. My response is; you referenced peace and Arabs in a sentence, which would oblige you to stop the Muslims form slaughtering each other, after all the Arabs can not make peace with their enemies until they can live with themselves, so get to work and when your done come talk to me. When it comes to Jerusalem the question to ask is… Is the State of Israel entitled to remain sovereign over Judaism’s holiest place, the Temple Mount? Those that advocate that Israel relinquish sovereignty of the Jewish people’s holiest place the Temple Mount are racist Anti-Semites period. If our enemies have their way we will have to rewrite the Hagahdah which states “next year in Jerusalem” to read never again in Jerusalem, if you’re a Zionist we can remove the Zion part and be just an ist. I hear this all the time well the Arabs were here when the Jews en mass starting returning from their exiles. With that logic the Christians should be claiming Israel because they were here before the Muslim conquest. Following that logic the Jews were here before the Christians and the Romans before them. What they are saying is that they only accept Muslim conquest as legitimate. Right in line with Sharia law (Dar-Al Islam) which states that land conquered by Muslims must always remain Muslim or it must be re-conquered if lost.
