AN ADDICT A dark cloud fell over Dublin’s streets and roads it started a plague worst than rats or toads it was a scourge that went from place to place it touched everyone no matter what race chorus it’s name is heroine ,speed or rave the name doesn’t matter it will show you the grave its sneaks up behind and gets into your head and as often as not you will end up dead it started late seventies, a spliff here and there it was all just fun, it was everywhere then speed kept you dancing and going all night and the odd line of coke kept you feeling just right chorus the heroine you thought you’d just try for the high wasn’ t long till you injected it into your thigh of course your not hooked as you lie in your pit then nothing else matters except your next hit chorus your parents disown you, they’ve had enough now you’ve no home, your living rough you spend your live stealing or turning tricks doing anything you can to get your next fix chorus you live in a squat, saying life is not fare its then that you realize you put yourself there another fix will relieve you from a life that is drab turns out it’s the overdose, your now on a slab................
