Peters Personal Principle for the day October 24 2013: This is something I struggle with every time I hear a comment or statement that is just ludicrous to me. In personal discussion with others we have two choices. Act like a jerk because you really do not consider that individual of any value, or listen to their opinion (or at least pretend to listen) and then respond with equal dignity. Simply telling anyone they are stupid or ignorant, or using other means of personally derogatory response; neither validates your opinion nor proves that individuals observations or thoughts are inaccurate. this type of behavior simply proves you are a jerk, and do not deserve the time and energy to listen to your words. To be valid and worthy of consideration, an opinion needs evidence of validity. This does not mean you will necessarily agree with the evidence. Too often it seems individuals choose to use abusive words as argument. They arent. Choose your words carefully and be respectful. Simply because you do not agree with someone does not make you correct. It just makes your opinion different. Sadly though sometimes its the jerk, who calls the other jerk. Unless you live in anothers personal world you have no idea, if what they observe is truth.
