Petition from #Maidan Activists to the World Cinema Community to support the film, “Pray for #Ukraine” For the Maidan activists, the revolution on the Maidan has not ended yet. It has continued in a war for our homeland, for its territorial integrity and spiritual unity. We appeal to those who care about the fate of this nation and county, to those who uphold the values of Western Civilization and a free world in the battle against post-soviet totalitarianism. We are volunteers: people who saved other people’s lives under bullets last winter, who resisted Crimea’s annexation, who are now serving in volunteer battalions, and who supply everything needed by Ukrainian soldiers today. We are activists, journalists and simply people who let the world know about every minute of the stand-off and who work to provide real information to the world community. The world should know the truth about us. It should understand the threat Ukraine faces—and the internal causes of the outside aggression it is struggling with today. We appeal to you to help the voice of the Maidan be heard, to hear the stories of those directly involved telling what the Maidan is about, why our fight has been called a revolution of honor and dignity, how it could save Europe from the “post soviet threat”—and possibly the entire world. Today, we hear many views, original opinions and brutal, cynical propaganda. Against the background of an information war and a clash of subjective comments, we would like you to hear the voices of real people: people who stood on the barricades, people who saved the wounded on Instytutska Street, and people who went on the attack on Hrushevskogo Street. “Pray for Ukraine” is a story in the first person, the story of those who were revolution makers, rather than observers. These are the voices of living people, telling us the last words of those who became “Heaven’s Hundred.” It’s not a writer’s script, a director’s interpretation or comments from the side. These are the voices of truth, and they must be heard. Our appeal is our “Pray for Ukraine,” an open letter to the whole world on behalf of those who were on the Maidan, who made the Maidan, who are the Maidan. We appeal to you to listen, whether you are a viewer, a critic, a festival organizer, or a member of the world cinema community. Hear us and let others hear us by showing this documentary feature film “Pray for Ukraine” on the big screen, at film festivals, and through broad access to all those who want to learn firsthand about the Maidan 2014, about our revolution of dignity. Ukraine is not “Donetsk to the East and Lviv to the West,” it’s not evolution or revolution. Ukraine is the choice between tolerating what is...
